Things are happening!

Image
Been a busy few days. Lots of fun with Mom, Peter, Claudette, Ashley, and Dave.  Also with Mark and Ayse Gammon, Mark's guitar and singing at the camp fire.  Windows arrived (mostly), roofers started installing their flashings and weather shield,  Purcell finished with their part of the job on Tuesday morning.    Garage floor was spray foamed, in-floor heating was laid and the wire mesh put in for inspection before the concrete goes in.   Still don't tire of that view.  SV Merlin moored in the inlet.  Boat repairs to SV Merlin dinghy.   Discovering the bike trails. Fun! Garage/Shop Windows!   Spray foam. In-floor heating and wire mesh

Views and Visitors

Dr. G has SV Merlin moored in Princes Inlet. He's been sharing his kayaks, thawed meat and rum.   Mom, Peter & Claudette are coming to inspect this weekend!    Usual deer visitations.  Thursday I biked 14 minutes to the little beach in Maders Cove.  Today Mike and Mark biked on the old rail trails into Lunenburg.   Push is on to get the roof sealed up.  Two days of wet weather didn't really slow them down.  Windows have arrived in Halifax.  Roofers are lined up.  Our BC timber frame guy is almost done his part of the project.      Morning Cptn Picot Bike at Maders Cove SV Merlin

"On Schedule"

Image
We are told all is on schedule but progress is less visible these days.   Weather isn't that great today so they are hesitant to continue insulating the roof.    Sunny Bluenose photo and Wood Elf  from Aug 21.  Our place across the inlet Wood? Garage 'eyebrow' covered.  Cupola facia and skylight framing.

Roof & Electrical

Image
Aug 16 Inspection by Dr. Gammon.  Aug 17.  Inspection by Tim and Lise.   Aug 18  More roofing and electrical work.  Any wires that needed to run in the roof had to be done before the insulation, ply and rain shield were put on.    Roof pre-plywood Early house-warming gift from the Yukon!  Cupula inspection Custom washers by DK Babin Wiring...

Manual Labour 08-17

Image
Due to an error with 'white wash' vs White boards.. Mike and I chipped in to get some of the white boards stripped and then white washed.    The white washed ones are for the interior ceiling so it was holding things up.  Got 'em done on Tuesday.    Otherwise, facia going on, ceiling and roofing continues.  Shingles ordered, windows and door and en route.  Juggling schedules of concrete guy, foam guy, roofer, plumber and electrician.  Cheap labour! Kitchen! Loft Quite the entry.  Facia, etc.

Rain cut Wednesday short but it's still amazing how much got done in 4.5 days. We have a loft!  Great visits from Ashley, Eric and Fran, Gary, Bev and Samantha!

And after three days!

This is after only three days of work and another visit from the crane.   Starting to look much better.  Also had our first floating adventure on Princes Inlet with Ashley's new yachts.   Ashley chillin'  Sea Heather Ashley after a great floating adventure.  The entry!

Aug 3 & 4 Puzzle

Image
Bit hectic.  Puzzle is going together quickly.   Geordie (lead guy from BC) is super nice and seems to know his stuff.  Working well with 3 local carpenters.   Mike has been helping where he can. Aug 4 - loft floor getting built before the crane comes Monday to put in timbers.   Thursday I checked out the Lunenburg Market.  Then this evening on a walk around the 'block' Mike and I stopped at the Sunnybrook market and had a chat with neighbours waiting on the berry delivery.    Puzzle pieces Douglas Fir beams Rental next door.  Morning fog Beach break.
