Where the H*** am I?

Image
It's like a different planet.   And feels like we've been gone from NS for months already.   We flew through St. Martin, N.I. and the airport is a big tent.  Usually it's not bad spending four hours there but not when they don't have nice coffee and croissants!   Tortola...status quo.  There has been lots of rebuilding across the island but it's still a mess.  Roads are horrible.  "Our" resort is the same as when we left; pool continues to be used to breed mosquitoes.  We finally had to switch providers today so we could get internet.  So far so good.  Michel has been helping our friend John with his boat and getting geared up for other work this week. Tahiti still in play; waiting for a date.  (I'm not going)   I have a couple of linocut card orders to get done (Cooper Island and Necker Island ...name dropper!).  I have a Humiliation appointment on Wednesday at Labour and Immigration for my work permit renewal. And life goes on.  Miss y&

Five...months...later....

We have running hot and cold water!   The heating system needs a bit of tweaking.  We passed our final Electrical inspection.... Big week.   Snazzy kitchen sink arrangement. INSANE amount of rain on Saturday night.  Golfcart Bob and Shelby visit.  Surreal moment.... View from the Throne.

You can almost hear the toilet flushing...

Finally...the worse of the wall/stairwell is in place.  It is somewhat monstrous but will 'soften' up when we get some landscaping, grapevines??? in.    The Septic tank has been connected to the house.  The water has been connected to the house but the pump hasn't been put in the well and connected yet.  Tomorrow... we're told.  Flipping a coin for who gets to flush first.  LOL    Insulation repairs began today...amid the flurries, wind, sun, rain, flurries, sun, blizzard, sun.    Vanity in progress. "Artist rendition" not to scale... Well to house trench.  Trench filled. Insulation repairs.

All in all just another brick in the wall.

Leaves changing, nights getting chilly... must be time to head south.   However...some loose ends to deal with here first.  Getting close.  Temp entry step.  New shelf Vintage lanterns for our main entry lights. (it was tough to choose between those and the MooseFeet) Wonderful short/sweet visit for Mom's 85th! Stairwell in Progress And the wall ...with Petunia!

Trying the tub and toilet in the bedroom. Andre and Michel The beautiful crooked dock Ash floor boards stacked for winter.
